Because this seems to be a topic that has several people hitting the panic button, here is how to pee while wearing your wedding dress:
On arrival at your venue
- Open the door of the ladies' room and look in. If the floor is not clean, call the venue staff and ask to have it cleaned.
- If the floor is clean, walk into the ladies' room and open the door of the handicapped stall. If the floor of the handicapped stall is not clean, call the venue staff and ask to have it cleaned.
This ensures that you will not later get the train/back of the dress dirty just by having it touch the floor.
When you need to go
- Walk into the handicapped stall. Remove (don't just pull down) your underpants.
- Facing the toilet, pull up the front of your dress to your waist.
- Walk straight forward, so you are straddling the toilet, and sit down that way. The train/back of your dress will now be away from the toilet, so you won't get them wet or dirty.
- Lean forward before peeing. That way, even if you drop the front of the dress onto the seat, you will not pee in its direction.
You may now resume your panic about all the other topics for your wedding day.

The wonderful and true advice lacks only 1 thing.
A wise aunt who married off 5 daughters before her younger sisters did 1 (I'm oldest daughter) mystified me by giving me, and my sister (marrying months before me) a couple of cheap textured white vinyl shower curtains (2.50 - 3.00 each, in my est.) folded and fit in a ziplock bag. She started - first you or your MOH spread this on the stall floor - then gave your face the wall behind the toilet instructions. Oh yes.
She sings opera, and for years did things in full gowns in a summer venue outdoor theater ( in Europe) in a public park with gardens. Long before she had daughters, she was a very experienced woman.

I think I'm going to have to practice this technique before the weekend - I can't help but laugh because sitting backward on the toilet just sounds too weird!

At least a home T Tank holds a book or magazine well. One can practice and read trash at the same time.
For some reason (maybe I am channeling an 8 year old boy) I found it hysterical a few years back when I got married that all these brides in really snug Mermaid and similar gowns then in vogue never realized that you could not lift the skirts up, "as necessary."
Therefore , at or after the wedding they would scream - I had to wait for someone to release me from a corset tie / or the 43 buttons, the bra cups were sewn to the dress, and when I was bare up there then the spanx had to come off, with someone holding everything, Three times between putting on the dress mid afternoon, and bedtime at 1am.
It always seemed funny - overlooking the obvious.

I just took my dress off, hung it on the hook in the handicap stall, did my business and then put it back on. As long as no one looked in the crack of the door to see me sitting naked on the toilet [my dress had cups sewn in, so no bra for me], I was all set. This probably only works w/ a strapless dress b/c you can step out of it. If you have to lift it over your head, it's probably not going to work.
Otherwise, just get the spanx w/ the pee hole. You won't have to remove your undies at all. :-)
Also, if you have a sheath dress, one that is not poofy or that has a short train, [I had a modified A line w/ a sweep train, so the bustle was pretty small], you aren't going to have any problem just holding the dress up to go like you would w/ any full length gown. You only need to worry about splashing w/ a very full, poofy ballgown style.

THIS is hysterical! All the romantic, proper advice for brides out there and THIS is what brides really need advice on! I'm wearing a very casual dress and won't have any trouble peeing, but I can see myself in the future (whenever my sister marries- I can TELL she'll have a huge princess dress) needing this and she'll be thankful! So funny! Pee on, ladies!

I never heard of that above suggestion. It's grossing me out because you would be holding the FRONT of the dress against the plumbing. Yuck!
I just took mine off and handed it to whatever handy friend I had corralled on my way to the ladies room. She held onto it until I was done and slipped it back over my head. No big deal.

Luckily I only had to go once at the reception. I went into the handicapped stall and sat the regular way, too bad I didn't have this advice first. It would have been much easier.
I had an a line dress that I had to put on over my head so taking it off would have been more of a hassle then holding it up.
I did have to go between photos and the beginning of the ceremony. For that event I took the dress off. Two of my friends were in the dressing room with me so they could help me put it back on.

My best friend got married two years ago. We asked her before the dress went on if she needed to pee and she said no. As soon as she had the undies, 20 lbs dress with the puffy lining (it actually had an extra slip with MORE poof), and the whole shebang she had to pee. All three of her bridal party went into the bathroom with her, lifted the dress up high and positioned her on the toilet. It was crazy, but we have some good memories. Then, she just didn't pee all night!!

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE your post!!! THANK YOU! I have wondered forever how you pee in a wedding dress, I was prepared to not drink anything and hold it all day long! Looks like my sister and I will have some very interesting moments, inside the bathroom none the less, on my wedding day!

I had a big, tulle ballgown wedding dress and ended up having to go so badly I had to run out of my pictures at my reception hall only to realize none of my bridesmaids ran with me.
My bridal attendant (a total stranger) had to hold my dress up over my head with my goodies hanging out while I went to the bathroom. I was MORTIFIED but I had to go so badly so I had no choice.....I think I gave her an extra $25 tip for her bravery!! lol

This is too funny, but a reality. I've been looking at dresses and possibly considering my own design, but yes, how will I pee in it has come to mind and is something to consider.

Ok So we got all the 411 on how to pee in a wedding dress.. however, what if u have to do the other part??? How do u do that with your bride's maids or moh holding your dress???? I also LOVE THE IDEA OF PEEING BACKWARDS. my dress is complicated and puffy kinda. so i will have to give it a go on the peeing backwards

OMG! Just looked it up! AMAZING!!! Definitely think I will get some...maybe a 3 pack i dnt want to have to clean them lol...and maybe one for my MOH (Its just her in the wedding party) lol...but how do you do #2? I mean I wouldn't want my MOH to have to stand there holding my dress lol how embarrassing!

this is hilarious! I never thought about peeing backwards.
As far as the other part.... I'd make sure to plan your menu with nothing that could potentially make your stomach upset lol

I think I will be going into the private room provided by the venue for the wedding party and taking the dress off. Sounds less complicated.

Other than guests running up our bar bill at the reception, the thing I have been most concerned about is peeing while wearing my dress. This is very helpful... just wish my reception venue had a handicap stall... it was built in the 1800s and has the tiniest bathroom stalls ever!

oh my gosh these posts are great! i've read them all and am taking mental notes lol! this is truly one thing that i think every bride wonders and fears about but doesn't think about till right before the wedding or maybe not till the wedding day! good luck girls....hope everyones wedding is full of fun and non-peeing memories lol!
