Hey, I'm thinking about ordering this dress by allure. Allure seems to have a lot of drop waists and I plan to buy a preowned dress. The dress I really want is new with tags, just someone ordered 2 and decided that the allure one was to much. It's very pretty and simple. The dress is style c111. It's light ivory in color and not much beadwork(I'm planning on having a crystal bouquet so having a a heavily beaded dress I feel would be to much) anyway the details are all fabric draping, fitted at the top with the fabric draped around all the curves and the skirt/train part is layered crinkle fabric and one accent of beading around the drop waist. Anyway I'm only 5'3" on a good day I don't want to wear heels that are to high probly an inch at the most maybe an inch and a half. I was wondering if the drop waist would make me look really short?

We'd have to see the dress on you to see if it *does* make you look shorter.
My guess is probably not.

Most likely, yes, it will make you look shorter. Try it on to check, but I would anticipate that if you are 5'3", a drop waist will make your look shorter b/c it will draw the eye down. Look into an empire style dress if you want to look taller. Also, the more streamlined the dress -ie, sheath, mermaid or modified A line rather than poofy ball gown, the taller you will look. If a dropped waist gown is designed for a petite, ie. short and small woman, and you have average or long legs for your height, it makes your waist look longer and more slender, but you do not look shorter. Nice.
If it is made for someone any taller, you can NOT hem it from the bottom only, or you will look like someone cut inches off the legs of a taller person, which is unattractive.
So if Allure like most figures their design is for a woman 5'6' to 5' 7 1/2" on average, not a petite 5'1" to 5'3", do not get it unless you have someone who can take it apart at the middle and re-proportion it.
Petite cuts are always clearly labeled, otherwuse it is not one.
