I'm having the same delimma, apparently it is. I've been told by several consultants " It's your day, do what you want." Truth is, there hardly any "tradition" anymore. Its what YOU want. :) I think i've decided that I'm going to have 2, although I havn't asked the other one yet, but we're having lunch this week :)

I asked her to be a BM but she's been excited about everything! which was a suprise to be, she's been kinda more helpful than my MOH  and other stuff thats going on. It kinda hurt my MOHs feelings when I asked her what she thought about it but we talked it over and she's ok with it now. I think it really just depends on your situation and what you truely see for your wedding.

I'm having a maid of honor and a matron of honor because my sister is already married. It's fine. As long as people understand what you want from them.

(= im having two maid of honors. . .both my sisters, couldnt decide between the both of them. . .so if one cant help me with something the other one does. . .One helps me be creative, keep track of all the money we are paying, save money, give me ideas. The other one helps me pick dresses, the colors.. so on and so forth....

So I see nothing wrong with having two of them... Wherever one lacks the other picks up Smile

Never thought of it, though it sounds like a great ideal that I may follow myself!

I wanted to have 2 MOH.. my sister and my cousin... My only problem is that my sister flatly refuses to walk down the aisle with anyone besides her husband, and she wants to be the only one, since I was the only MOH in her wedding... sticky dillema!!! I want to make my sister happy.. but I don't want to force my fiance into picking my bro-in-law as his best man!

I think it's a great idea. Because I have a lot of very close friends, I have actually decided to have all MATRONS and 1 Maid of Honor. I'm too close to them to choose just one. But, because my Maid of Honor and 1 of my Matrons lives in the same city as I do (the rest are out of state), they will be the ones to share the responsibilities.

It's your day, so you can personalize it any way you want!!!Wink

I am having the same idea at my wedding. My fiance's sister has been amazing my whole relationship with my fiance, so because she is married I am having her be my Matron of Honor, and my long time best friend will be my Maid of Honor. My best friend was surprised at first but completely understood. She even liked the idea because then the two of them can double team all the work involved with the Maid/Matron of Honor duties.

I am having 2 Maids of Honor.  Its your day, so you should be able to plan it however you want, thats how I look at it anyway.  We are still only having one best man.  The only suggestion I have seen is to do something to set both MOHs apart a little from the rest of the bridesmaids, make their bouquets bigger or have them walk down the aisle together.

I also have 2 sisters and at first asked my one sister (who i am the closest with) but am still really close with both of them...I pondered the idea and it kind of worked out for the best b/c my FH has his cousin as the best man and his other cousin right behind him and he found it hard to choose between his 2 cousins, so now we have my 2 sisters and MOH's and his 2 cousins and BM's.  I wanted to go with tradition at first, but then when i was asking around to see if anyone thought it was tacky, they said that weddings have been so acustomed to being unique that it wouldn't be a problem.

I think it's totally fine too.

In my Wedding Party, we are all really close so one of my/our best friends is my Matron of Honour, and my/our other best (girl) friend is actually our Best Man (or as we call her:  Our Best Wo-Man).  My brother will stand up on my side and my FI's other best bud is the Matron of Honour's husband so he will stand on my FI side.

We've decide to keep things small and I think you just need to do what is best.  You want to look back on your day and remember all the people that shared so much love with you that day.  Do what makes you smile.

I am trying to follow wedding etiquette as much as I can but I think this is one area where it's fine not to follow "tradition".
I am having two maids of honor-my sister, and a very close friend. Both of them are fine with it. If anyone has a problem with you doing this, really, it's their issue, not yours.

I think it is a great idea! I am doing the same... my daughter is not married and my daughter in law is married... so one is the maid of honor and the other one is the matron of honor.  This is your wedding and make it what you want!

Your MOHs can walk down the aisle by themselves-I guess usually they walk out together with a guy though.
