Hello, wedding folks--and please help!
My best friend/maid of honor has offered to throw/plan a bachelorette party for me. We'd have it where I live; half of the potential invitees live here, the other half live about 4, 6, and 8 hours away.

I'm looking for some on-the-cheap ideas for activities that we could do in a single day. We're a little old for pub crawls and clubbing, not into strippers, and while we're all working, things like spa days or cooking classes feel like budget-busters. If we're going to spend $70 or more per person, I'd love to be able to do several fun activities, not just one--so cooking classes and wine tours are out; we're not going to rent a party bus.

A night out at a great restaurant would be awesome, but I'd hate for people to travel several hours just for one meal. Any suggestions?

Have you tried looking on groupon or some other such site?  My sister used groupons when she hosted her best friend's bachelorette party and she was able to get some great deals.  They had a pole-dancing class, but there are lots of other options, you just have to catch the deal.

As for spa days, try going to a local beauty college and getting people from there to do the spa treatments, the local masso-therapy school would be a great place too.  These people would charge a lot less because they need the hours for their licensure and you would probably just mainly have to pay for supplies, which you could get at the dollar store.

Another friend of mine had a teacher a local dance school come and do a mini burlesque lesson, it was pretty fun without being too out there.
