If you have a Maid of Honor and a Matron of Honor, who stands closest to you? Is there a certain rule?

Also, I have an uneven bridal party as of now, and I think I'm going to keep it uneven. What are some nice ways to walk the bridal party down the aisle if you have one more groomsmen than bridesmaid?

I don't know that there is a rule, but as to your second question, you can either have one lady escorted by two gentlemen or have one walk alone.

Entirely up to you.

I would have the Best Man walk the 2 MOH down and then line the rest up evenly.

I believe the Matron of Honor stands closest. Traditionally you have a "matron" who is married and same age or older, and then your BM's are supposed to be younger and un-married. That stuff doesn't really work in this day and age, but i would still have your matron beside you. Or you can just line them up by height. That would avoid any "why is she closer" situations.

My husband wanted the guys standing up front with him and the girls walked by themselves.  Up until the last minute we had an uneven wedding party too.

Uneven bps are more and more common - have the shorter of the MOHs stand next to you.

If aisle is wide enough, I love the BM escorting the 2 MOHs back up the aisle after the wedding.

Or, the last groomsman can escort your mom, grandmother, or other special guest.

At my friend's wedding last weekend, there were four bridesmaids to three groomsmen. One of the most memorable moments on the night was when we all walked out (walked in single file) and the last groomsman had a lady on each arm. The entire room went crazy because he must have smirked when it became apparent that he was escorting both (I was a bridesmaid, but the first one to walk out, so my groomsman and I had no idea what all the fuss was about until later).

My maid of honor will be close to me, my matron of honor next. That's how we're doing it.

As for the uneven party, to let the party start...umm....I think that I would just have him escort two BM. That's just me tho.

I dont' think too many people actually picked up on the fact that you have more men than women, so the bm walking down the matron/maid doesn't work.  Instead, it'd have to be two groomsman walking with one of the girls.

Or save the "wackiest" groomsman for last, and let him put on a little show of dancing down the aisle by himself.

My fiance wants his dad as his best man, and has a total of 10 including my 2 brothers. I have 7 girls, and technically my 2 brothers are my attendants so this give me 9 and my fiance 8. So, his dad is walking his mom down the aisle  and seating her. One of my brothers is going to walk both of my grandmothers, and one of his brothers is going to walk his gandmother. Or something like that, it's still in the works.

Right now, we're still debating... we have a similar situation with the groomsmen/bridesmaids.

One of my bridesmaids backed out this weekend (I'm really upset about it).  She said it was because she didn't want to pay for the dress, but my parents told ALL the BMs that they would handle attire as a gift to them... anyway...

We're tossing around a few ideas with that.  We're thinking of having the first grouping be of three - 2 groomsmen and 1 bridesmaid.  But FH is going to see if one of the groomsmen would want to be an usher instead - because he will a 2 month old baby when we get married, and then he would be able to sit with them during the ceremony (and he wouldn't have to rent a tux, just wear his suit).

I like the idea of doing 2 GM and 1 BM.  As for the maid/matron of honor situation: go with whoever is closest to you!  I've seen it done both ways, and again, in this day and age the orders don't matter quite so much.

I have four bridesmaids and three groomsmen, too. But one of my MOH is the mother of the ringbearer and flower girl, so I'm thinking about having her walk out with them, and double the rest of normally. I'm also having both a maid and matron of honor - my two sisters. I haven't figured out the standing order yet, but probably my maid of honor will stand closest, mainly because she really wants to be able to do all the MOH duties during the ceremony that I was able to do at our other sister's wedding.
