So I have grew up in the Methodist church and my FI Grew up in the Luthern churh. Both a very similar in beliefs. His Luthern church is close to our reception site. So my dad told me that we should do the wedding at his church but have my pastor do the ceremony. So we went to his church today and asked. Well the only way we could do that is have 2 officiant do the wedding. I did decided that we'redoing this because for personail reasons.  What does everybody else think or are you doing this for your wedding?
Everything has Beauty but, not everyone can see it.

My parents had 2 officiants at their wedding - my dad is Jewish and my mom was raised Lutheran, though she prefers Agnosticism. They had both to appease the family on each side. My dad had his rabbi and my mom had a friend who was a minister - my mom didn't want her minister since he told my parents they would never work out coming from "such different religous cultures" and to kiss each other goodbye and never see each other again! Heaven forbid two people fall in love who are not of the same religion! GASP! My grandmother sees him every now and then and rubs in how long my parents have been married (32 years!) and how well we're doing as a family :p.

Personally, I'm not going to have a religious wedding - a few friends were certified online and any one of them could do it - or a judge.

I think representatives of each church is fine.  Marriage in the spirit of finding common ground and building on it together.

I've seen weddings with 2 officiants for a couple of different reasons. I think that it's nice to blend both of your beliefs on such a big day.

I don't see anything wrong with having two officiants. It should make both sides of the family happy!

I agree with everyone else.  There's no problem with that at all.  We even had 2 officiants at our wedding.  We're both the same faith but it meant a lot to my DH to have the priest from his church be involved somehow so 2 officiants it was.

I just went to a wedding where they actually had 3. I think it's great you want to represent both religions.

Lots of couples have a co-officiated ceremony. It's pretty common.

And psst, that's Lutheran.:)

As a wedding officiant my advise is to do what makes the two of you happy. Remember this is the beginning of a new life for the two of you, it is not a continuance of your parents life.
I believe you can tactfully tell your parents that you feel you would just like to do it your way. There are many non-denominational ministers and officiants who do a wonderful job, who will work with you to write your own ceremony or vows. The more you do to create your ceremony themore it will be something thatis yours and yours alone.
My favorite weddings are small intimate each weddings with just the bride and groom.
Hope it helps...
