I used to be a member of a church and sang for the church choir. However, I was not a member of any particular church years after when I got engaged.
The problem is that I can't find a church in Long Island, NY that will let me rent the church for the ceremony. If I had gotten married in Manhattan it would be very e-z to find a church available to rent out without being made to feel like a sinner "no big deal' ,but now every time I call and inquire about renting out a Church for a ceremony it is always some issue or just a flat out no. Ineed advice. It is very important to me and I am running out of time.

Are you asking that the minister perform the ceremony, or literally trying to rent just the building? Most churches cannot just be rented.
There are lots of churches where it is fine to have a ceremony using their minister and their church even if you are not a member, if that is what you are looking for.

Join a parish/congregation and start attending church. Then, make an appointment w/ the priest/minister and schedule a wedding date.

I agree that if you're asking to get married at a church and use their officiant, regardless of the faith, it's odd that they're just shutting you down. If you're asking to simply rent out the church or use a different officiant, I can understand why they're saying no since many churches won't allow that.

There is a church - First Presbyterian (Old Whaler's) Church 44 Union Street, Sag Harbor, New York that is on the National Historic Registry. It might be too far away for your taste, but places at are on the registry are more flexible about who uses them. You might find another one on the registry closer to you. Best of luck!

if you cant find a church, and you arent a real big church goer anyway, i know LI has lots of country clubs, parks, etc for you to check out as well.

The Historic Chapel, Woodbury is $1000 to rent. You can use any officiant you want.
|
