I did happen to "hint" at the style I like. He picked out a really beautiful ring. He even picked out the specific diamond that is in the ring! It was sooooo cute, the poor man was so worried that it wouldn't be big enough or that I wouldn't like it. I couldn't have picked out a nicer one if I had done it myself!

I dont know whether this poll was around before or not, but it's new to me! I picked out my ring--he knows I have particular taste... Honestly, my fiance has great taste too, and I 'm sure I would have loved it, but I'm still glad he let me make the decision.

My DH picked the rings (engagement & wedding rings in a set) entirely by himself - the proposal was a complete surprise. Every time someone sees the rings and hears that he chose them, they say, without fail, "He's got good taste!" :)

When my FI proposed, he didn't even have a ring. We were on the beach, the sun was setting and it was very impromptu. We were cuddling, watching the sun set after a fun day on the beach and he turns to me and says, "I havne't got this really planned, I don't have a ring, I'm not down on one knee, but I have always wanted to ask the woman I love to marry me on this beach as the sun is setting. I can't think of a better time. Will you marry me?" So then a few weeks later, we went to the jewelry store together and we looked at rings. I picked it out but he loved it too. I keep getting comments on how it looks like it is the perfect ring for my hand...I think it is!!

So happy to be his Mrs!

This is almost identical to my situation. :) I basically told him what I did NOT want and what styles I liked and he took it from there. Though he fretted about size and if'd I'd love it or not, he had no reason at all to worry. It's absolutely perfect.

My FI chose the ring and picked out the diamond with moral support from a buddy. He got me talking about rings one evening under the guise that his cousin (who is getting married this month) wanted to get a better ring for his fiance and "called" to ask for FIs advice. Even after talking about diamonds and ring styles, he chose something completely unique and perfect for me. I am so proud of the planning he put in, but even more proud to soon be his wife!

My fiance and I collect (dig for) gems and minerals. He found a smoky quartz rock that was perfectly clear so we decided we would use that as our engagement ring. We chose the cut together and looked through books for setting for what seems liked hours at the jewlers. The ring came out perfect - plus we have a completly unique ring and story to go with it. We couldnt be happier!

We originally were going to use an heirloom set, that was the ring my fiance proposed with.

In June we got new rings that we picked out our selves. He needed a ring that could withstand his job without getting dammaged (he is a delivery driver for NAPA auto parts), and my engagement ring kept snagging on my pants pocket.

We're going to save the heirloom set for our children to use.

He was looking online and asked my opinion. We were looking on ebay and found the perfect ring! He bought it and I had to wait for a week for him to formally purpose with the ring. We found matching wedding bands as well, and they match my ring, so thank goodness for ebay!!

he picked the stone and the band by himself, but i had told him the shape of the stone i wanted and exactly how i wanted it set. he tells everyone he designed it! he did a great job!

My ring is a family ring from his side. He had it sized and cleaned up. I love that!! To me it's really special because it comes with a happy history.

He designed it! He found a setting that he liked the best and asked my sister for her input (she liked it the most for me, as well), and then he chose the perfect diamond and made a couple of tiny tweaks to the design (4 prongs instead of 6, etc) and had it custom-made for me. It's absolutely perfect, and I love it!

Counting down to 4/3/10!

He did but I also gave him ideas of what I like. For example i want a diamond it can be a single if its bigger if it is smaller it needs friends. He also had some help my aunt and uncle own a jewerly store and he went to them for my ring. To be fair if he didnt he wouldn't be allowed to marry me since she is also my godmother.

My husband picked out the ring after we had discussed different styles that we liked. He took me to see the ring before he bought it to make sure I liked it, but it was perfect!

We had gone shopping for a ring about a year before he actually proposed and I wasn't really serious at the time about getting married (at that time), so I didn't even remember that I had liked a ring similar to the one he bought when he proposed! It was a complete surprise, even though it had been my choice. :)

We both did because he didn't want me to wear a ring for the rest of my life that I didn't 100% love. That is what he said.
