I'm having a little trouble with selecting my readings for my wedding, in fact I don't have any picked. I was wondering what you have selected, if you could give me the exact reading that would be fabulous.
Thanks so much, Elysse

What religious affiliation is your church?
I am guessing that you're having a Catholic ceremony -- I'd steer clear of anything suggested in Together For Life; the readings they suggest are antiquated and non pc.
You can pick the "standard" Love is patient love is kind from Corinthians -- or choose the reading that goes "When I became a man I put away my childish things" :
"When I was a child I spoke as a child I understood as a child I thought as a child; but when I became a man I put away childish things." I Cor. xiii. 11.
That would cover the New Testament reading.

Are you having a religious ceremony? Our priest gave us a list to choose from :
Old Testament: Genesis 1:26-28 Genesis 2:18-24 Proverbs 3:3-6 Song of Solomon 2:10-13 Song of Solomon 8:6-7 Isaiah 63:7-9 Jeremiah 1:31-34
Psalm Psalm 67 Psalm 100 Psalm 117 Psalm 121 Psalm 127 Psalm 128 Psalm 150
New Testament Romans 8:31-35, 37-39 Romans 12:1-2, 9-18 1 Corinthians 13:1-13 Ephesians 3:14-19 Ephesians 5:1-2, 21-33 Philippians 4:4-9 Colossians 3:12-17 1 John 3:18-24 1 John 4:716
Gospel Matthew 5:1-10 Matthew 5:14-16 Matthew 7:21, 24-29 Matthew 19:3-6 Matthew 22:35-40 Mark 10:6-9 John 2:1-11 John 15:9-17
Our priest told us to pick one from each.
If you're not doing a religious ceremony, I'm a total fan of love poems. But, I've found that something more modern is much easier for your reader and audience - the older poems can be slightly confusing if they're not well known.
I hope this helps!

I love this quote from Dietrich Bonhoeffer that FI picked out because it conveys why marriage is important. "Marriage is more than your love for each other. It has a higher dignity and power, for it is God's holy ordinance, through which he wills to perpetuate the human race till the end of time. In your love you see only your two selves in the world, but in marriage you are a link in the chain of the generations, which God causes to come and to pass away to his glory, and calls into his kingdom. In your love, you see only the heaven of your own happiness, but in marriage you are placed at a post of responsibility towards the world and mankind. Your love is your own private possession, but marriage is more than something personal—it is a status, an office. Just as it is the crown, and not merely the will to rule, that makes the king, so it is marriage, and not merely your love for each other, that joins you together in the sight of God and man. As high as God is above man, so high are the sanctity, the rights, and the promise of marriage above the sanctity, the rights, and the promise of love. It is not your love that sustains the marriage, but from now on, the marriage that sustains your love."
We are also going to use John 15.

I would try and stay away from 1 Corinthians 13:1-13, it seems that every wedding that i have been to in the past 2 years(I've been to alot all my family and friends are in a wedding boom) use this scripture. It seems that is the most popular one of all, its on invites on programs on everything basically. Just because its so popular i would stay clear because people have heard it a million times. What my FH and i did was he picked a verse from the Old Testament and i picked one from the New. That way we both had our say in them. He picked Genesis 2:18-24 and i picked Ephesians 5:1-2, 21-33. Walton725 has a pretty complete list of wedding verses, it looks about the same as the list that the pastor gave us to pick from.
