My son is getting married at the gazebo next door to our house. The ground there is a little uneven so we were not going to have chairs but just have the quests all stand around the gazebo for the short ceremony, probably 20 minutes long. Just wondering what people thought or if anyone had any other ideas of what to do for guest seating.

My brother did this a few years ago. They layed down blankets for the youngers guest and had a few chairs on even ground for the elders. They held the blankets down with flower baskets and it was actually really nice. The ceremony was about 15 minutes and then all the guest had to do was walk across the street for the reception, but most hung out to watch all the picture be taken.

Thanks. That is a really good idea. We are trying to keep things as simple and inexpensive as possible. Thanks for the help!

I think blankets is a terrific idea, espically around a gazebo, it's so fitting for a park like setting! You could get some vintage sheets, and roll them up and place them in baskets for guests to take.

You could also put some fans or parasols out if you wanted to do a garden vibe.

I was looking at fans. That is such a cute idea, especially if it turns out to be hot out that day. Thanks!

Gotta say I would be annoyed if I went to a wedding with no chairs - outside in a park or not.

The fact is the plan is for the ceremony to be 20 minutes long. But things could happen including delays and I don't think it's fair or police to have everyone standing up. Especially in heels. In grass.
