I have a gorgeous Maggie Sottero gown (Chardonnay) and have a question.
The gown has a very full skirt and currently I have it in the bag I bought it home from the bridal shop in.

I live in California and will be getting married in Maine in June of 2013.  How on earth am I to get it through TSA and where do I put in on the plane.  I"m not happy about putting it with the baggage compartment, but don't know if there is enough room in the overhead bins...and somehow I don't think the attendants will let me hold it on my lap...

help!

Aimee

Have it shipped.  There is no way I would even allow baggage handlers anywhere near my wedding gown.  They are not responsible for anything and you can purchase insurance on things that are shipped for pretty cheap.

Retired Flight Attendant here ... it depends on the airline as well as the type of aircraft you're flying to your destination, so you should call and check.  It's a simple question of will your flight have a closet.  If yes, then try to get boarded early and ask the flight attendant that greets you as you board if you may hang your wedding gown in her closet.  If there's no closet on your aircraft, get a wedding gown box from your dry cleaners and pack it in there and check it.  Upon your arrival you'll have to have it steamed out or whatever, but it'll travel fine in that box.  Good luck.
