I have one question for you, will your guests have the luxury of flying to your chosen destination? Or would you rather have a local wedding in a church, garden, museum, or beach?

I agree: Ireland would be a stretch for many guests, especially if they're pinching pennies.

There are tons of places you can consider:

A vacay resort not far from your home -- you might also consider California wine country or even Big Sur. The area in Big Sur is positively beautiful.

Vancouver might be another spot to consider, also.

There's always Vegas or Palm Springs.

What about a vineyard in California since you are based in Port Land or a beach wedding in Santa Monica, I love the beach so I naturally started looking into beach weddings and we chose Hawaii becasue you dont need a passport for our guests to attend it is affordable and great weather all year around. I think you have to think what is your and your FH dream wedding.. I always thought beach.. maybe yours is a castle in Ireland, but it isn't affordable.. then maybe a castle in Canda instead. There are so many options!

You should have a look at awebsite which compares different wedding packages, so you know what you're letting yourself in for! Once you include flights, transfers, legalities, photographer etc.... everything can add up! Or you may find it is cheaper than getting married at home. Ianother factor to think about is what is your budget? and what kind of setting are you looking for? we chose Walt Disney World because we both have kids and they had cheap prices were using cinderellas castle as the back drop. so I hope you find your perfect place. Good Luck!

Hi,

Not sure if you have decided on your destination yet, but I thought I would share our plans. We are getting married in Tuscany, Italy in May 2010, an intimate ceremony in a Tuscan Villa close to Florence. We were able to find a fantastic wedding planner, Chiara Sernesi from www.weddingsintuscany.info who has helped us organise everything from the venue, documentation, accommodation, photographers etc within our small budget.

Having someone organise it for us has definitely helped us enjoy the process so much more, Chiara is so friendly, very efficient and her local knowledge of the area and choice of venues and vendors has insured that we have been able to choose everything we were hoping for. And, it has actually worked out cheaper than having a wedding at home and an added bonus is that all our guests are over the moon about being able to have a holiday in Tuscany for such a great price (group discounts) and of course share this special occasion in such a romantic location. And for our friends and family that are not able to join us, we will be having a celebration party when we get back. Soooo excited!!!

Anyway, hope that helps you choose your perfect location, good luck deciding.
