You could try Vistaprint.com. I used them and they were very inexpensive for nice quality cards. You can download your own photographs, create your own designs, or use their templates.

Good luck!   :)

You could also just put something nice together and have it printed at Sam's Club or something like that.

Very inexpensive.

E-mail a nice design of a save  announcement to the majority of your guest list.  People either print a copy to post, or put it directly on their electronic calendar.
For the few left, Buy inexpensive, blank fold-over note cards and write.

Commercially produced  Save the Dates are a waste  of money.  The magnets are worse.  More expense, and easily done yourself.

One of you knows the people well enough to write a note that says, we are so excited to tell you we  have made our wedding plans, and hope you will save ...  whether sent email or snail mail.  Or do a save the date format. The ones you make yourselves (with a template, mag strips if you want) are great.
It takes lots of people longer and requires more effort to shop, select and buy Saves than doing it from scratch, e mail or hand written.
They are supposed to be informal communication. Good time to be creative, and a budget saver.

As I saw above, vistaprint.com is an awesome site. I uploaded a pic of me and my fiance, added my own text and had them printed on 100 magnets for like $60.

magnet strips : $10 for 20 packs,10 in each package
colored paper : walmart $ 6 and cut if desire
glu gun ;dollar store $1.00 glue sticks $ 1.00
total for 200 ppl $ 18 wooooho what budget

I made my own save-the-date postcards. I bought a box of print your own cards at Sam's and found some cute clip-art. They were a big hit. They cost about$0.35 per card including postage. I have a bunch of left over paper that I have to figure out what to do with.

Similar to Vista print - Costco.com and Shutterfly are great options.

I found that people posted our save the date to their fridges because it contained a cute pix of my HF and myself.  It wasn't a formal picture either, it was something silly we took on the computer camera on a lazy sunday morning.

The postage was more expensive than our save the dates!

Instead of Vista prints, I suggest Overnightprints.com. Personally I feel they have a higher quality print, you can choose if you want your card to be glossy or matte, w/ rounded corners, etc!

My FH and I designed our own using his photoshop skills and a cute drawing I made to look like us :) We'll be printing them up as soon as we find our venue and nail down the date!

I emailed our save the dates to the majority.  And for the few that don't use email (grandparents, etc.) I created inexpensive cards at Hallmark.com.  You can customize and order the specific amount that you need. You can have them mailed to you or directly to the recipients.

You can also try Personalizationmall.com.  Good Luck!

It might sound corny but since my wedding is beach themed and we scuba dive I saw that Oriental trading had a really simple and cute snorkeling bride and groom template...maybe you could check them out and see if you find a style that suits you...although vistaprint sounds like a deal too.

I love this idea!  Was it hard to assemble the magnets?  Were they pre-cut or did you cut them by hand?  Also, were they heavy enough to require any extra postage?

i bought cardstock 3x5 from LCIpaper.com, stamped "save this date" in silver ink (all bought from michaels) and printed my own (from internet) saying on them.  then we went to sams and printed off 150 copies of our favorite picture and sent it that way.  saying was:

Jeremy bought the ring,
Sara said yes!
There's going to be a wedding,
we hope you'll be our guest.

This is what I did for Save The Date Cards:
http://pandbwedding.blogspot.com/2009/08/my-diy-save-date-cards.html

http://pandbwedding.blogspot.com/2009/09/save-dates-are-ready-to-go.html

http://pandbwedding.blogspot.com/2009/09/i-forgot-to-show-back-of-std-card.html
I only made 26, but to make 100, it would have only costed another 10 cents for every 2.

What I did was I used my engagment pictures and photobucket. They have a free application called scrapbook which has several wedding styles. All I paid for was stock cards. (I don't remember how much it was) also what was nice about that was I was also able to send it as an email, post it on myspace ect as well as print them.

Madly in love,

LaughingHey future Mrs. Jones! I recently did my own save the date Hankies. If you have a decent printer and you or you guy is computer savy it's actually pretty easy. Get 13 packs of hankies from wal-mart($5.00 a pack) some iron on transfers(at wal-mart $8.97 a pack of 13 sheets) some card stock in your color from A.C. Moore (I got about 34 sheets which I cut into four sections a peice for about $4.50) ribbon from walmart(2 spools which cost .47 cents apiece) and I also got from wal-mart a decorative paper punch found in the scrapbook section. Find your graphic on the computer, print it out on the iron on transfer, cut out the pattern, (I think I did six per page on my transfers) iron on hankie(takes some practice) fold hankie(also takes practice, but online info helps) place on cardstock that has been cut with decorative hole puncher, and use a box cutter to slit paper on either side of hankie. Slide ribbon through slits and secure with knot on both sides. They came out beautiful and ver unique. Most people though that they were custom made!!!! I've seen websites that did silk screened hankies but that was a little to pricey for me. Cost me about $50.00 total for over 70 save the dates. Postage was only one stamp for each that was mailed as well. Although I would double check with the post office. Hope this was a little helpful!

I was a Vistaprint girl, but hearing about Overnightprints made me give it a try for my July wedding. I even googled a coupon and saved $10.  100 SAVE-THE-DATE postcards for $18.00..........  Priceless!!!!!! That's a mastercard commercial ladies. I thought that doing my own add up...ink (pricey) paper.....glue...stamps...I can save all the effort and money on my formal invitations! I almost brought STD's for $80 please...

We used print your own postcards by Avery, that were bought at Staples or Office Depot, I can't remember.  The software on the website is SO easy to use.  It is a bit limited, but it is really easy to use.  I had some left over and I liked them so much, I used the same postcards with different clip art for the rehersal dinner invitations!!

I used Vistaprint.com too.  They wer great.  When my FI and I got our house I had ordered business cards with our new address on them to give out to our friends and family.  I got 250 for less then $6.  So when I needed to get save the date cards i thought of them.  They have 100 postcards you can order.  I ordered mine (and business cards) when they had a deal for try our product free and only pay shipping.  So i customized my save the date cards to what i wanted it to say.  I included our wedding site link information and an inspirational quote as well.  It only costed us again less then $6.  I used the same design as our business cards too.  The design was great and it had our wedding colors in it.

I would check it out.

My cousin and his Fiance just sent theirs out and they created their own postcards.

They designed them on a picture application on their computer... put a picture of them on it with all the information.... sent them to wal-mart or walgreens or something and had them printed as postcards.. I think they ended up being $0.20 cents each....

I'm making postcards - they say "Save the Date!" on one side, and our details in the message area of the postcard.

And I'll save on postage.

There are plent of great websites out there that will let you customize your own save- the- dates. I ,personally, did save the date magnets with our picture, names, wedding date and wording " invitation to follow". They were very affordable for me, but I only ordered 50, which was $ 65.00 plus tax and shipping. If you really want to save, what you can do is find a picture you love of the two of you, go to a craft store like Hobby Lobby or Jo Ann Fabrics, and they make standard sized plain magnets, and kits, and you can make your own save the date magnets.. Just add your wedding date and such yourself! If you don't want to do the magnets, make your own cut- outs of your wedding date and within each number write your names, date again and a special note like , "invitation to follow" or something of that sort! Do something that defines your personality, it will make it more special!
