Cosmo, we have a policy at the school that states no soliciting, but it does not seem to matter.  People are constantly coming door to door requesting money for this or that, even to the principal himself!  No one ever gets reprimanded for it...  It just seems to be common practice.

I have inquired with others to see what their thoughts are, and they say agree that it is highly annoying and uncalled for, but because it seems pretty common practice, nothing is ever done and most people are eventually guilted into it (esp if they know they will have something coming up requiring donations in the future).  Guess I will just have to lock my door when I am in my office... ARGH!

Reb, that's really stinky.  I can never say no, either!  (I do love the wrapping paper sales, though!)

Speaking of stinky, where IS Stinky?????  It's her vent cafe and she's been missing for days.  Hope you are ok, Stinky!

I thought Massachusetts drivers were bad, until I moved to Arizona.  People here have NO clue how to drive!!!  They think the HOV lane is the ultra speed lane.  I hate it when I'm moving along at 72 mph in a 65 and someone comes flying up behind me and rides my bumper.  I never move over for them, that is what the passing lane is for!!!  I let them go around me.  Bad drivers are a big pet peve of mine.  Today I was driving and the light for me turned green, so I began to proceed forward, I saw an SUV comming from the street on the right, trying to turn on to the road I was on, she slowed down for the RED light, but then went right through it, completely cutting me off and ignoring my horn. I thought people were supposed to make a right on RED AFTER stopping.  Oh well, she'll get what is comming to her if she keeps driving like that.

omg, here's my vent for the day:

Stopped to get gas this morning.  Medium-sized gas station.
3 pumps per aisle.

A guy was sitting in his car somewhere between the middle and end pump, I assumed he was finished, pulled ahead of him and then backed up to the end pump.  He gets out of his car and starts screaming at me -- that's my pump!  I said, gee, can you please pull up a few feet to use that (middle one).  "No, I'm in a hurry!"

I was so angry.  He was a big doughy guy in a sweatsuit, probably mid 60s.  He looked like he hadn't had to be anywhere at any set time in years.

So, I got back in my car, pulled around to the other aisle, the other side of the same pump, and he continued to mouth off to me the whole time I was standing there.

Finally, I just said, "Hey, buddy, why don't you shut the eff up!  I don't want to listen to it."

And he did shut up.

Felt so good.

Not the adult way to handle things but he was SUCH a jerk!

I love the eff-bomb.  Nothing else works as well!

P.S.  You'll probably have to buy 63" and hem them, but you can use iron-on hem tape if you're not a sewer. Posted by cosmogirl

Thanks cosmo and everyone else for the curtain tips! I'm going to give some of these stores a shot tomorrow...hopefully I can find something nice and get this project over and done with!   :)

Does that iron-on hem tape really work? DH said something about it to me, too, but I wasn't sure if it would look sloppy. Unfortunately, I'm not good at sewing; securing a button is about my limit.   :-P

Cosmo, I hate when people pull crap like that at gas stations. The worst is when someone cuts in ahead of you because you backed out a little to let the person at the pump out. It never ceases to amaze me.

LittleBean, I've never used iron-on hem tape, but I have used iron-on patches to great success. One of my coworkers admitted she uses Mighty Mend-it for her pants hems, so that may be an option, too! (Although ironing first is a must to get the clean line.)

OMG, i hate, hate, HATE our cell phones.

we got rid of our verizon phones last year after realizing that it was stupid to pay nearly $100/month when we were using MAYBE 8 total minutes between the two of us.

so we got tracfones.

yeah.

these things are THE most user UNfriendly pieces of crap i have ever seen.

i was trying to delete some of the stupid annoying texts that the company CONSTANTLY sends and ended up deleting ALL my messages, including some pictures that i ONLY had on my cell, b/c the stupid things are so hard to use.

i also HATE our vehicle situation.  i am sick and tired of having to trasnport the boys in a 2-door vehicle.  it is SO hard to get them in and out now that they are both 20+ pounds.  we finally got the heat fixed in the other car so we could switch the car seat bases to that one.  then the power steering pump went.  we got it replaced.  STILL doesn't work right.  there is a leak somewhere . . . we were told we'd have to take it to a ford garage (i know, i know . . . i don't know why we ever bought a ford in the first place) to get it fixed, to the tune of many hundreds of dollars.  so dh decides he'd rather just keep dumping power steering fluid in it for $6/month than pay the large amount to have it fixed.  (the real kicker here is that the fluid doesn't REALLY make much of a difference.)

long story short, we can't change cars b/c the 4-door steers so hard that i won't be able to get it in and out of the VERY tight spaces we have at work (and i am the one who has to take the boys to daycare b/c it is close to my work).

i am annoyed with our priest and deacon for not getting back to us about getting our boys baptized . . . especially when we have a huge problem in that we literally have NO one in the family or among our friends whom we can ask to serve as godparents b/c NO one has remained catholic.

i am very annoyed by a lot of things lately.  lol.

it's probably b/c my job is annoying me already and it's just starting to stress me out all around.
