Jen, please do not encourage pets at the wedding.  It's so stupid and inappropriate!

I disagree with you cosmogirl.  Pets can be as close to some people as their family or friends are.  Pets (especially well- behaved ones) can be a great, cute, and funny addition to the wedding.  Most everyone loves animals.  My dog is precious.  I want him to be my ring bearer, but even though he's adorable, he's very ill- mannered and my fiance said he wouldn't behave during the ceremony.  Still, we're working with him.  I say pets are a great addition to the wedding.  They are a part of our lives and they should share in our most memorable moments.

I agree Cosmo.  It's unfair to the guests and the animals.

I'm with Cosmo for all but very informal, outdoor weddings.

I hate seeing animals dressed up in clothes.  It makes me think the people doing it have serious social or mental deficiencies, unless it is protective clothing (warm booties,  Vests,  reflective gear.)

   Pets are not dolls.

Tutus and tuxes on Bulldogs, spare me.

If you want to have your dog perform a service, bring rings to a vows area, fine.

For the sake of those who actually find religious meaning in oaths taken at an altar, please do not do it in a church, synagogue, or other consecrated sacred place.

I think it's great if people want to incorporate their pets into THEIR wedding, who says they have to be dressed up by the way?  If my dog wasn't so easily distracted my fiance and I would definitely have him there.  You can't judge just because YOU wouldn't do it doesn't mean others don't love their pets enough to want to do it.

I have actually been planing to have my 2 dogs and cat make an apperence at my reception. I take my own professional photos and I have deceided to use pictures of my animals with wooden #'s. To use as my table numbers. I think it is a great way for me to say "hey we didn't forget you!" So all night while we won't be able to make it home they will still, in some way, be with us. I can't wait! They just look so good, and I am glad the wedding channel is going to be putting something together for pets in wedding, I can't wait to send mine in! Smile

Yes, because, since they are animals, they would be sitting around all night at home worrying about that very thing.....

No, they wouldn't be. However they are just as much a part of our new family together as our actual families. Just becasuse you don't like it, doesn't mean you need to be rude to  others that have good ideas. I am sure that other people will like this and probably use this idea.

Unnecessary, if you don't like it keep it to yourself.  No need to be rude to others because you don't agree.

To each her own.  Everyone is individual, everyone has a reason to do something.  America spends approx. $3 billion on pets, so yes, we love our little furbabies a lot.  So, it wouldn't be a surprise to have your furbabies at your wedding.  It would be most appropriate.  But again, each wedding is very individualized.  I'm bringing our furbaby to ours. If we were getting married in the state we live in NOW(FL) or if we drive to up North instead of fly (MA) we will bring our dog. I would totally have him be a ring dog or at least take a picture with him when WE are all dressed up.. WE are also getting married outside AT my FIL house... SO we can really do whatever we want.

If they're well behaved I don't see a huge deal in having them there. Our wedding was outside so my puppy came to watch- she loves people and everyone in the family so she was good and quiet. The kids adored playing with her at the reception. Good entertainment for all! :D If you don't like it or think it'll cause problems then don't do it.

We are doing a powerpoint presentation as a tribute in memory of those loved ones that we have lost over the years together.  We are including my two cats who were victims of the pet food recall in 2007 (anyone remember that?) and my beagle "Peanut" who had a hearattack in my arms last year. He had cushings disease.  Anyway, a part of the presentation will be photos of them.  Im an animal lover so I needed to include them in this.  The pets I have now though...I wont be bringing to the event but I saw on "Cake City" on the foodnetwork...a bride had candy replicas of her two horses biting the wedding cake.  I might do a take on that but havent decided yet (oh my pets are not horses, I have a dog and two cats).

I could not have imagined sharing one of the most important days of my life, with out one of the most caring and wonderful souls I ever had the pleasure of knowing. My black lab was with me from the time I moved out of my parents, thru college, 4 cross country trips, 13 different living situations, and every moment in my life that holds meaning. He was my baby, my protector, and my best friend.

The first date with my husband was taking my dog on a walk, and I can assure you that Allen (my husband) fell in love that day, and it wasn't just with me. The second date Allen showed up on the door step with a bottle of wine, a bone, and two tennis balls. He had me then… that was it.

We never had to ask ourselves if our boy "should" be a part of our wedding. He was at the Church and by our sides the entire reception.  He was listed in the program, appropriately as "Best Dog".

Don’t listen to anyone who says you shouldn’t have your pet involved in your day. If you and your fiancé agree, that’s all that matters. You know your animal and how it will work out, and if you believe it will be a good situation, go for it.

My boy passed away earlier this year, and the photos I have of him at the wedding are some of my most cherished possessions.

Yaga I completely agree. Its a personal choice for each person. People should never be rude and objective to an idea that has merit. Pets are part of the family and ur choice on whether they are included in one of the most important days of your life. And to the person earlier who made the comment about them sitting at home wondering...there are some pets who do just that. My kids grandparents have a Great Dane who when they were away and he had to stay with us moaned around all day wouldnt eat anything was just sooo sad i felt so bad. At first i thought he was sick but he was just missing them and felt alone. There is a deep connection between some people and thier pets it shouldnt be made fun of. Love the pic Yaga...i love Labs they are so beautiful and great dogs.
