My wedding will be extra-special since it will be on our 12th anniversary! We've been waiting a long time to get married. We started dating young (age 16), and we had a lot of hardships on the way (deaths in the family, other crises, etc), so we've been waiting for this day for a very long time. I believe our wedding will be unique because it's all about our union. Of course we're planning all of the little details, but because we've been through so much in our 6 and a half year (so far) engagement, we know it's really all about us and a celebration of all we've been through together and the promise to continue to stay by each other's sides every day.

Our ceremony will also be truly unique. My fiance is Jewish and I am Roman Catholic. We will be having a truly blended interfaith ceremony at the same church where my family has been going for nearly 100 years. Faced with many choices - a ceremony in one religion or the other, two ceremonies, a generic "interfaith" ceremony at a non-religious site, we decided to plan a ceremony that truly represents us as a couple, and that truly represents both parts of our religious and cultural heritage. We've been working with clergy to customize the ceremony so it really represents the start of our blended family.

Our wedding day is something I will never forget. We had so many family and friends from both in town and out of town. It was wonderful having everyone there to share such a special time in our lives.

Sorry about the formating. I was having a hard time with it. The numbers next to the explination go with the order they are on the page.

Photos done by: Shae Owens Photography

1. I loved my bouquet! I did not even realize there was a heart in it till we got our pictures back!
3. Leo is a HUGE Pittsburgh Steelers fan so I surprised him with my garter!
4. Our favors were to die for! We had a local baker Eileen Carter make chocolate covered oreos with silver dusted wedding bells on the top of them.
5. I loved the bridesmaids dresses! We got them from David's bridal and they looked and fit everyone perfect!
6. Bridesmaids bouquets
7. We had this bible were the minister was and had the page markers hold our wedding bands. This bible is very special to me because it is the bible my mother carried with her down the isle when her and my father got married
8. We also did a sand ceremony and had it standing next to the bible
9. Our cake was White Chocolate almond with raspberry filling!
10. We used this pictures for our Thank You cards and had it put on a postcard.
11. The garter! :)
12. I did something a little different for my flower girl after the ceremony. I had her mother, whom I have know since I was 5 and my flower girl come and join me a the front of the reception site. I then handed her mother a box and inside the box was my blusher I had worn. I explained to her that I wanted her daughter to have it so when she gets married one day she can wear my blusher and it can be her something old. She loved it and stood there crying and hugging me afterwards.
13. This was something else that meant a lot to me. My favorite aunt passed away a couple years ago, so to remember her I wrapped one of her bracelets around my bouquet. This was my something blue.
14. Here are some of our favorite pictures!
22. This is our departing picture when everyone was blowing bubbles at us. I thought this was an awesome shot!

And that gives you a little in site on our beautiful day!

I think ours deserves to be one of the chosen weddings because of our unique ideas we had though out our wedding. I think our wedding could be a great inspiration to a lot of other brides, not to mention I what be able to show everyone what a wonderful photographer we had!

I think my wedding should be featured on WeddingChannel.com or The Knot because of our uniqueness.  My fiance, Nick, will have just graduated as a commissioned Officer from the United States Naval Academy only two weeks before our wedding.  He has been very involved in every aspect of our June 11, 2011 wedding from many, many states away.  He finds the time in between drill, training, classes, and other military obligations to devote time to our wedding planning.
The wedding will be unique in that it is a traditional military wedding.  We will be having the Arch of Swords following the ceremony and even using my fiance's sword to cut the cake!
On top of that, we're not using traditional linens.  Our linens are all black with a touch of hot pink on the chair sashes, & centerpieces.  We want our wedding to be unique and fun.  Our goal is to have people leaving saying, "That was beautiful and unlike any wedding I've ever seen!"
I feel this type of wedding is not seen or even featured often.  I am proud of my fiance for all he does for me and our country and would love to show off our beautiful uniue wedding!

Our wedding is going to be very whimsical and romantic. I really wanted a Winter wedding because it would give me the chance to play with dramatic colors and textures. We are using black, red, and chocolate brown as our colors. Our ceremony is at Homewood, and old stone mansion in Asheville, NC, and we will be married in front of a giant stone fireplace. We will have framed photos of our parents and grandparents to honor their marriages on the mantle, and jeweled garlands decorating the mantle. There will be two urns on either side of the fireplace, full of curly willow branches, and hung with small votives and chandelier crystals.  I am walking down the aisle to "Blackbird" by the Beatles, and the recessional will be "All You Need is Love".

Our ceremony is a large loft-like space on the top of the Asheville Chamber of Commerce building. It will be decorated with the deep red flowers of my bouquet: anemones, roses, orchids, ranunculus, and fiddleheads. Our theme is vintage birds and branches. It will have a touch of the whimsical, with vintage engravings of birds on the placecards and escort cards. As both my FH and I love music, the table names will be named after a songwriter (ex. "Dylan" with a meaningful lyric written below it. I won a choreographed first dance at a bridal expo, so we are lucky enough to have an expert get us through the first dance!

Our buffet pays tribute to the South, with southern comfort food. Top that off with rich chocolate cake with amaretto buttercream and a red and black candy buffet. I want the night to be meaningful, fun for my guests, and for each little detail to be charming and fit in with the theme. I am so fortunate to have my beautiful bridesmaids standing up with me at the altar, all in formal black dresses with ivory pashminas. My dress is ivory dupioni silk, with a sweep train. I will wear a cathedral length veil for the ceremony, and a birdcage veil for the reception. And red shoes! Can't forget the red shoes. I cannot wait until the big day, cannot wait to be Mrs. Dunbar and unite our two families. And I want everyone to have a really great time at our winter bash!

The last two years for us have been challenging and rewarding, we are both attending college to better ourselves and in June 2001 I will be graduating (Bride) with a degree which will take me toward teaching.  To follow up with our marriage on June 25, 2011.  Our families will not only have our wedding vows to celebrate but also my graduation.  We are a team and believe in working together to reach our goals.  This saying will be incorporated on our invitations because it is at the center of our family photo wall in our living room and we believe that this represents us.  We are stronger together then we ever were apart.

We may not have it all Together,
but Together we have it all.

Our wedding will be full of love, family and friends. We are two real people in love working together to make our lives full and special.  We live in beautiful Southern Oregon and will be getting married by the Applegate river.  We are busy planning the greatest day of our lives as a couple.  We are not only joining as a couple but as a family since I have a 5 year old that will be in the wedding.  We would love to win this contest and feel that  we can show off the WeddingChannel.com in Oregon.

The Applegate River Lodge is breathtaking, it sets on the river and creates the ultimate wedding spot.  Our theme is wine, from the wine bottle center pieces to the self created wine cork cake stand.  We are on a budget but our wedding will not show it. I am very into DYI projects, I have collected many wine corks and will be using them for decorations.  I have designed our wedding invitations and will be working on them in the next few months. We have found that WeddingChannel.com has given us so many great ideas.

Our guests will enjoy great wine great food and a whole lot of fun. In keeping with the wine theme our wedding cake will have sugared grapes cascading from each tier with the cake resting upon the corks it will look elegant.  We are so very excited for our big day and looking forward to spending the rest of our lives in the place we love Oregon.

My husband and I moved to Milwaukee, away from our families shortly after becoming engaged.  We had to make a hard decision as to where the wedding would take place.  The choice was easily made once we layed eyes on the Villa Terrace Decorative Arts Museum in Milwaukee,WI.  It is a gorgeous villa built by an Italian Renaissance architect for former A.O. Smith president, Lloyd Smith, and his family.  I heard a story on a tour that the Villa was built to replicate where Lloyd Smith and his wife honeymooned in Italy.  The romance of that story only adds to the already beautiful ambiance of the Villa.  It is set overlooking Lake Michigan with a lush garden.  My husband and I planned the entire wedding alone pouring ourselves into every detail. We had cheesecake (huge hit) instead of a traditional wedding cake and had our reception at a restaurant on "Brewer's Hill" with a fabulous view of the city. Family and close friends flew from everywhere, including Puerto Rico, New Jersey, California, Florida, etc.  It truly was a special day.

Joe and I met almost 9 years ago in the entertainment industry, when I was just 20 years old, since then we have most certainly had our ups and our downs.  We’ve traveled extensively chasing our dreams, started multiple businesses-had successes and failures-but the one thing I do know is that regardless of what happens, I can always count on Joe to be there for me-support me, love me, lift me up and even to disagree with me when I am wrong-no matter how stubborn I am.  Even though at times it may seem like we are in a boxing ring-He has always been a huge strength for me, he has taught me so much about life and about myself.  He’s at my side when I am at my best and (even though it was a struggle) has always guided me at my worst.  He never pictured himself the marrying kind-thus the 9 year in the making wedding! Lol...

Due to the economy we recently had to dissolve our longest running business and make some sacrifices and its been tough.  I have never wanted to spend a ton of $ on a wedding, I am all about investing instead...however now that the day of my dreams is finally approaching, I want it to be a day to remember for everyone involved.  I am DIY'ing a lot! I love to plan parties and this is no exception...it WILL look like we spent 50k on this wedding and we are closer to 12k.  He is doing this for me, seeing that we have been together for so long and know the good, the bad and the ugly, we're already there...but we want to celebrate our life together, the new chapter we are entering and bring our families together!

With our crazy lives (there's no one crazier-in a good way-than Joe and I), the risks we've taken together and the bumpy road ahead...I can’t wait for the adventures Joe has in store for us next.  I know he is the man of my dreams, caring for me like no other ever has or ever will…he will be the perfect father and a loving and supportive husband.  He is my best friend and mentor, I love him with all of my heart and am fully supportive of all he is and does!

I think we would be a great couple to feature...live on the edge but have very strong morals and encompass everything a loving relationship should.  Check us out at http://joeandchristina.ourwedding.com

every passing minute is a chance to turn it all around....

I think it would be great to have our wedding featured for many reasons.

First, our wedding is being held at the Atlanta Zoo! The ceremony will be on the Gorilla Deck (with a private gorilla feeding included with the venue rental) and the reception will be at the Panda Veranda. Not only is this different and fun but not a lot of people know that the Atlanta Zoo does weddings and this would be a great opportunity to get the word out there! The food and bar will be set up along the glass walls and they have a separate area that is covered that is PERFECT for our dance floor! We are also incorporating the animal theme into the decor, from invites to the cake!

Also, my wedding party and I are doing A LOT of DIY projects! Our flowers and the center pieces will all be done by ourselves and we have a LOT of great ideas. This would help a lot of couples who want to keep it simple and/or are on a tight budget. We are spending no where near the average amount that a wedding costs these days but it is still going to be spectacular! The table cloths are going to be white but I have a friend that is making animal print table runners to add a splash of color and individuality to the decor. I am making a lot of decorations myself which are coming out beautifully. A friend of mine is doing our cake and we're planning on it to be pink and black zebra print!

Our wedding will be so much fun and very different from a 'traditional' wedding but still have all the traditional aspects of a wedding. Who wouldn't want to see the big day and how it all came together?!Sealed

Good Morning, my fiance and I met in July of 2009 while working in Haiti on a Missionary Training trip where we trained 200 young adults on conflict resolutions, domestic violence, drugs and alcohol and business management. My fiance was there providing security to the group. It turned out the whole time I was checking him out he was doing the same and with encouragement from the group and the other coordinators from Haiti who had worked with him in the past we started a relationship.

We got engaged on his birthday in October during a trip back to Haiti  and was planning a wedding in Santo domingo to facilitate both of our parents to be able to attend since it is such a long and hard process for people to migrate to the United States. But in our planning process we realized all of the legalities in planning and having a wedding in Santo Domingo that we decided against it. Since I had returned to Haiti in December to spend my birthday and New years with him we had decided to get hitch in  a civil ceremony and to tell you the truth that was the best decision we had ever made. Granted it was something I had said I would never do because I could never see me and my husband leaving in different states not to mention different countries. But God had a plan because I returned to the states on January 7th and exactly a week later the Earthquake hit Haiti which destroyed many. Luckily my husband survived but both of our families were victims of the quakes effect.
Now he is on his to migrate to the US and we are in the process of planning the wedding that we wanted. We have agreed to a destination wedding and have our sight on St Thomas, St. John and St. Lucia.

We are planning a weekend filled with fun; we are expecting the guests to arrive the day before where we will welcome them with a reception/BBQ on the beach and then have the wedding that next day with family activities before the ceremony and reception. Then wedding ceremony, reception till 12AM since it is our culture to have a big reception with lots of music and dancing and the day after we will conclude the weekend with a brunch before our guests depart from the hotel.

We were going to have something low key but after we both survived the heartache and stress of the Earthquake we decided that we should celebrate our love as we now have realized more than ever that life is very short and that tomorrow is not promised to anyone.

Winning this would just add to our fairy tale romance and upcoming nuptials.

Our story really isn't anything out of the ordinary. We are just two people who met and fell in love. We weren't parasailing off some coast, or on some special trip across the world. We actually grew up very close to each other. We both were born and raised in a small town in Michigan. We can't say exactly when we met because we have just always known each other. I guess my story would be more like one of persistance. My fiancee is 8 years older than me. Ever since I was old enough to date my Mother was always saying "What about him? He's so handsome and so nice." Of course being a teenager I dated the opposite of what my mom wanted me to date. As I got older I realized she had been right the whole time. He was a great guy so I decided to pursue him.  He didn't seem like it but it turned out he was one of the quietest guys ever! We would talk occasionally and I would invite him to things and he would never come, but that didn't stop me. Eventually he gave in and came to a movie with me. Things just went from there. We had the same sense of humor and enjoyed the same things. Soon we had been dating almost 1 1/2 years and he proposed! W
Now we are planning a small wedding. No more than 200 guest which will be hard because we both have large families. We will be married in our hometown and have our reception just a few miles away. I am so excited not just for the wedding but to spend the rest of my life with the best guy!! We are trying to keep things simple. We found a photographer for only $250 and a dj that is so nice! He jokes that as soon as he asked me to marry him I just pushed go because the plans have turned out perfect so far. Our colors are a green with pink accents. My sisters and best friend will be in my wedding. I can't wait!!  Most importantly we get to share this wonderful day with our family and friends.

We're getting married in 4 months (Oct. 23) and are really excited to make the commitment after six years of dating and also living in different cities for the last four years! I couldn't ask for a kinder, yet sexy-outdoorsy, engineer for my future husband and am excited to share the wedding and reception with our friends and family in Baton Rouge, LA. We live in CA right now and are having a great time bringing some CA cool to the deep south with our outdoor yellow and gray wedding reception. Pray for a calm hurricane season!

Jennifer & Bryan

Our wedding would be a great love story to share on The Knot and WeddingChannel.com! We are a fun loving couple who have been dating for 7 years. We got engaged on December 23, 2009 and I quickly started planning my dream "Country Elegance" wedding to be held on 10-10-10! I choose a beautiful plantation on the lake in Gallatin, TN and soon came to find out that the plantation was in the process on filing bankruptcy and never heard back from there wedding planner again. So... we searched high and low for a new venue that was available on my very popular wedding date.(not an easy task) The Gaylord Opryland Hotel was always in the back of our minds, but just feared the cost of hosting a wedding in the beautiful hotel. After visting with the wedding manager at Opryland, we fell in-love and booked our wedding!! Plans were coming under way, I bought my wedding dress and planned our menu and flowers. Then, on May 1, 2010 Nashville, TN experienced a huge flood which destroyed the Opryland Hotel and all homes and business in the surrounding area. So now once again we were forced to choose another wedding venue 5 months from our wedding date. We searched high and low again and found nothing available for 10-10-10, but fell in-love with Cedarwood Mansion in Nashville,TN. The only thing that was holding us back was changing our wedding date. I so badly wanted to have our wedding on 10-10-10 but Cedarwood had everything I wanted for my wedding and more. It had all the "Country Elegance" charm and details. So Bryan and I decided to change our wedding date to 10-3-10 for 3rd times a charm!!! I am still waiting on my refund from Opryland Hotel and starting all over again with Cedarwood Mansion. Our ceremony will take place out in an open field with wooden church pews for our guest to sit in and our alter will consist of a backdrop of old restored windows from the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville. Then our cocktail hour will take place in an old barn on the property with chandeliers hanging from the ceilings and then the reception will be held in the outdoor pavilion. Being that the wedding will take place in the Fall our colors are chocolate brown, deep red, green, black, burnt orange and gold. There are alot more details and things in the works along with a purchase of a new wedding dress which will go perfectly with my NEW outdoor, Rustic Country Elegance wedding! Would love to hear back from WeddingChannel.com and The Knotand hope that you will join and celebrate our wedding day, share our wedding ideas and the love that Bryan and I have for each other. Even though we have had some disappointments through out our wedding planning, becoming husband and wife is all that matters in the end!

Sincerely,
The Bride Jennifer

My Fiance Jeff and I met online about four years ago. I am pretty sure I had told him that my Birthday was January 22nd. I guess he had forgotten when we sat down for dinner on our first date. I had decided to ask him what his birthday was. He said it was January 22nd. I was like, you are joking right? He was like no. I made him take out his wallet and show me his drivers license.( Our years are two years apart)  ( Funny since my parents both have June 8th as their birthday!)  So every year we go to Disneyland on Our Birthday, everyone does a double take, and thinks we are joking with them. So I saw the calendar to see about a wedding date. I saw that Our Birthday landed on a Saturday in 2011! I went OMG, we have to have our Wedding on Our Birthday!! So we decided that is what we are going to do! I decided a fun way to end the day, ( We are having a daytime wedding). Is to turn off the lights and have someone come in with a birthday cake so we can blow out the candels and that is how we will end our wedding day/birthays!

I feel that my wedding should be featured on WeddingChannel.com or The Knot because our situation is very unique.  I am like every other girl wanting the wedding of my dreams: A beautiful reception, a wonderful dress, an outside ceremony, and some awesome food, but this did not happen.  My husband is in the Marine Corps and found out that he was deploying to Afghanistan in the fall of 2009, which was when we were deciding to have our big day.  Therefore he was granted leave at the end of June 2009 and surprised me with the most beautiful engagement ring on July 3rd, 2009.  I then decided that I didn’t want to wait until he came home from his deployment (we already gave up our day in the fall), so we were married on July 6th, 2009.  It was an awesome day, but it was at the courthouse in our hometown; Not quite the wedding every girl dreams of, but a day I will never forget.  Once we were married, my husband then said lets have our big wedding with all of our family next year.  It was like music to my ears.  I was already married to the man I wanted to spend the rest of my life with and now I could plan the beautiful wedding I wanted to share with both of our families.

That’s where I am right now: Planning!.  Our wedding is going to be on September 10th, 2010.  The whole time he was deployed I had been planning the details and finding the venues.  We will be renewing our vows at the Tamaron Coutry Club in Toledo, Ohio.  Their Golf course is beautiful, and the outside ceremony will be accented with the course in the background with flowers.  There will be white chairs and pink and white rose petals scattered down the aisle.  A String Quartet will be playing for the ceremony.  This is important to both of us because we both are musicians, him the viola and I the violin.  The reception will take place at the same venue but inside.   My wedding party will be sitting in front of a large window that overlooks the whole golf course.  My guests will be able to view it while they are seated.  My flowers are Anna roses with white roses for my bridesmaids.  I am very excited for the wedding of my dreams and to be able to share it with the man of my dreams.  He just returned from Afghanistan and is going to be surprised when he sees what I have planned.  Thank you for considering us for this wonderful opportunity to share our special day.

On his deployment day.

On our wedding Day July 6th, 2009.

A couple pictures of the hall's long window overlooking the golf course!  Not my wedding colors but the view is beautiful.

I would love to share my wedding day with you!! Words that will sum our wedding up are romantic, classic, formal, and timeless. The date that we have chosen 4/10/2011 is very dear to our hearts. It would be my late father's birthday. He passed away 7 years ago. When I thought to use that date it just clicked! What better way to acknowledge my father's memory - also, seeing his "baby" happy is all he ever would have wanted, so this is my birthday present to him! We are marrying at Mount St Alphonsus, overlooking the Hudson River. "The Mount" is a castle-like monastery that was built more than 100 years ago and houses a chapel to give the most beautiful in the world a run for their money. Once our 150 guests arrive at our reception venue , which is the country club we belong to, I have many suprises in store! My mother also passed away 7 years ago, and to honor her I will be changing into HER wedding dress- which she had perfectly preserved for me. It fits like a glove- not one stich or inch needs to be adjusted. It is a short fitted, beaded cocktail dress that she wore with a detachable ballgown skirt (I will just be wearing cocktail dress). It means so much to me to be able to wear it!! Our wedding rings hold very sentimental value as well. We are having the gold from my mother's band and the gold from my fiancee's late fathers band melted together to form our own rings. We will be having a band as well as a dj, choreographers, ice sculptures, out of this world food, a candy bar, & a cigar roller to keep our party moving! I am so in love, and so blessed to be surrounded by the amazing people that I have in my life and I cannot wait for my day!!

I would love for my wedding to be shared with other brides and brides to be and married couples because it is all about love! I am so excited for my wedding to my fiancee! I know it sounds very "Disney" but I knew he was it from the moment of our first semi-date. We said we loved each other on the third date and have never turned away from that. We have been together for almost four years and have been engaged for a little over a week at this point (it was an amazing proposal!) and are SO HAPPY and EXCITED to plan this wedding together! Just like every other couple we have had our ups and downs and trials and life was never right if we were not together and so we've done a lot of growing up together. We have our best friends and family in our wedding party- in fact this will be the first time in 3 years that all my college girl friends will be back together! One is even flying over from England!
Everyone likes to see a happy couple and we are a very very very happy couple who makes each other laugh a whole lot and are so excited to spend the rest of our lives together!

Our wedding should be fearured on the WeddingChannel.com or The Knot because my fiance Scott and I are "Wild about eachother" and we are have a wedding that proves it. We have chosen an unconventional wedding venue and theme, that will show people that your wedding can be fun and different yet still classy. We are breaking some traditional rules and have turned every head with our animal print themed wedding to be held May 7, 2011 at the Maryland Zoo in Baltimore (http://www.marylandzoo.org/visitor-information/rent-the-zoo/weddings// ). My bridesmaids will be in black mid-length dresses accented with an animal print sash and shoes while their coordinating groomsmen will have a matching accent as a hankerchief in their pockets or an animal print tie. I have three bridesmaids who each have their own animal print patter: leopard, tiger, and giraffe. I have chosen zebra as my pattern and will wear zebra print heels to match my wedding dress that has a black train. My mother has even gotten into the theme! She plans to wear a peacock blue/green dress and accent it with a peacock feather in her hair or some peacock feather jewelry. Our ceremony will be at a Lakeside Pavillion on the zoo grounds while our reception will be on the zoo's Mansion House portch. Not only will there be fabulous pictures at these two beautiful locations but we will be allowed to be photographed in various places around the zoo. My fiance and I are breaking with tradition and taking pictures before the ceremony because who would want to miss a cocktail hour with animal ambassadors? "What is an animal ambassador?" you ask. The animal ambassadors are select animals that the zoo trains to show at events held for or at the zoo. We have requested that a toucan and an African penguin be present at our cocktail hour to entertain our guests. Our caterer who has been in the business for years is extremely excited about the animal print theme as well since she has always wanted a couple to do it and we were the first! She has come up with some great ideas and I know it will be a classy event. To hear more I guess you'll have to chose our wedding since there is still plenty of planning ahead and it truly will be a wild start to our fabulous life together!

My husband and I are celebrating our 10 year wedding anniversary with a vow renewal ceremony in June 2011. Our original wedding was rushed and very inexpensive due to buying our house (and i wanted to move in WITH him, not AFTER...lol). we didn't even really have a honeymoon because we needed to organize our new home.  so with our renewal, i want to go ALL out. i love fashion and design, so this time around, "posh" will be the adjective of choice for our event.

So I never had envisoned an outdoor wedding for me, but I also never envisioned the amazing man I would one day marry either.  My fiance and I are going to be married in August 2010 and our ceremony is going to be at the top of the Bluffs overlooking Omaha.  This is where we had our first date, and where he proposed....so we thought, "why not get married here too!"  So our ceremony is taking place in a unique location, but then moving on to an elegant reception which is going to be held in the elaborate Embassy Suites in Downtown Omaha.  What everyone in America is looking for is their dream day...but at a reasonable price too.  With the help of the Knot and other resources, I have been able to find amazing vendors and find pictures of ideas for my wedding.  I always thought that I would have to cut things out to save money, but I haven't had to cut back on anything!  You can afford to have the dream wedding you have always wanted!
So I would love to have the wedding channel feature our upcoming wedding to help future brides have their own dream wedding!

My Fiance and I deserve to be featured because we have been together for 10 years and are finally getting married on 9/4/2010.  We got engaged on 12/25/2009(the best xmas present ever), the 10 year anniversary of us meeting online in an AOL chatroom (we met online before it was cool!) - we've maanged to pull everything together in less than 8 months and 10 days.  After being together for over 10 years we didn't want to wait a year or more to get married.  And we've been doing most of this on our own. Our parents aren't helping us pay for anything.

Our entire lifes have been about everyone else and we thought about not even having real wedding and just eloping.  Even people in our family suggested that, being we've been together so long.  But we decided that we deserved it - 1 day for US, 1 day when everyone stops and thinks about us and not the other way around, and 1 day when we get what we want.

We are both big comic book fans and no no one is dressing up like superman or spiderman, but we have found away to combine our love of something with the classiness of the wedding.  We are using comicbook covers in frames as table numbers.  Action Figures for cake toppers and  Instead of the boring same old wedding invitations, we had a special logo of combining to superhero logos in overlaping hearts (designed by his sister) in our wedding colors (even the wording is special - written by my fiance, my sister, his sister, and me).  In fact this past saturday, I stayed up all night printing the invitations, and RSVP cards, stuffing envelopes.  My father has been in the hosptial b/c of a fractured hip and just had it replaced and while we were at the hospital - I decided to write out all 95 envelopes last week and my sister put stamps on them so they would ready for the stuffing so they were all mailed out yesterday.  Our invitations are so unique, beautiful and funny!  They match my fiance, Eric and I perfectly.

People have been nervous that my father won't be able to walk in time for the wedding, but my thing is I just want him there.  I tell him that everyday. He's had a tough time the past 2 months in the hosptial but he'll be walking me down the aisle - he finally walked 2 steps yesterday.  He's my supehero!

We are doing Ceremony & Reception @ Ricardo's by the Bridge in Astoria, NY where I grew up.  We made a special request to them that since my fiance his hispanic if they can add some hispanic food to the cocktail hour, so his family doesn't feel left out (since majority of the cockatil hour is italian food).

We are using local vendors, except for my wedding dress, the MOH & Bridesmaid dresses which are David's bridal.  Tux is a local vendor (Bayside), florals are (Flushing or Astoria - haven't decided between the 2 yet). Our DJ / Photograopher - College Point. Cake is being provided by the Reception Hall.  Our favors are from a woman I met from NJ a new starting up business.  We wanted to keep the everything as local as possible.  Even our Officiant is a good Friend from Astoria, the County Clerk of Queens, she's known me since I was a kid and my fiance for the past 10 years - she absolutely loves us and we love her.

By keeping everything Local we keep the costs down.  The best part is the catering hall is 2 blocks from Astoria Park (great for photos!)

We've just been trying to keep everything simple and "in the family."  Even if we don't win, I'm just happy we got the day we deserved.  We are even going on an amazing honeymoon - we are going on a Meditterean Cruise, I've never been out of the country and dreamed of seeing Italy.  He's always wanted to see Greece.  On this cruise we will see both - I was able to get a us an amazing deal through my timeshare, and he was able to find us plane tickets 2 for the price of one.

It may not be everyone's fairy tale - but this all seems like a Dream to me!

Dolores and Taurus
My fiance and I met over a year ago on dating website and hit it off instantly. With everything we have been through(his divorce and our surprise pregnancy), we stayed together and vowed to spend the rest of our lives that way. The reason I want our wedding to be featured is because I think we are a very unique couple with a quirky sense of humor and a offbeat sense of style. Our wedding is set for October 28,2011 which is the day he graduated from boot camp and Really close to Halloween so we thought it would be a great setting for a fall wedding idea. Thank you.

Amber and Shawn

I would love my wedding to be featured on The Knot. I met my fiance over a year and a half ago. We both have been married before and they didn't work out. Both of us were in very abusive relationships. Since we have been together we have gone through so much crap. We have been in and out of court several times fighting his ex mother in law for custody of his 3 girls from the previous marriage. We have been struggling financially because his ex has not had to pay anything for child support, insurance or doctor bills it is all on our shoulders. My grandfather died, our car was destroyed completely and insurance wont cover it, but through all the drama we have stayed together and continue to love each other cause we both know that we could not have gotten to where we are without each other.

From the moment I met him i knew that he was the man i wanted to spend the rest of my life with. His heart is genuine and he always goes above and beyond what i could ever ask from him. The way he proposed was so unique and exciting which is the proposal i have always dreamed of. We had gone to Cedar Point which is a huge amusement park in Northern Ohio. We had gotten on one of the tallest rollercoasters called the millenium force after standing in line for like hours we finally get on and we are climbing the 310 foot hill and he starts telling me how much he loves me and that he can't imagine spending the rest of his life without me. We get to the top of the 310 foot hill and just before we go plunging down the hill at 92 mph he pulls out the ring and asks me to marry him  of course i said yes then screamed my head off the rest of the ride.

I have started planning a beautiful wedding my colors are royal blue and silver and the theme is music because i am a non-signed singer/songwriter. I have an idea of how i want my wedding cake to look with bass and treble clef cake toppers and music notes all over the cake with the saying " Love is Life's Music!" As far as everything else goes i am still planning it out and i have plenty of time cause we are not getting married till August 1st 2011 cause that is my grandmothers birthday and my grandmother died before i was 16 years old and she was like my best friend and i could talk to her about anything so we agreed that to honor her we would get married on  her birthday. I would really love to be featured by The Knot cause not many good things have happened to us in the past year so it would make us both extremely happy.

Thank you

My fiancee and I became engaged on May 1st, 2010, and quickly decided to have a Downtown Detroit, MI Wedding on April 2nd, 2011.  The venue we choose, The Colony Club of Detroit, use to be the Women's Club of Detroit; the answer to the Men's only Club.  It is a gorgeous building established in the late 1920s that was re-discovered in 2006 during Superbowl XL, and resorted to its original condition.  The venue is amazing, unique, and very Old Detroit; which has had a major influence on the rest of our wedding planning from a vintage style wedding dress to a trolley bus used to transport our guests.  In addition, in lieu of traditional wedding favors, we are making a donation to the Children's Hospital of Detroit in honor of our guests to help support sick children in the community that are in need.  We have quite a few quests attending from out of town and want to provide them with a sense of pride for Detroit, because so many times it is looked down on and not appreciated for the beauty and history it holds. As a result, this is also why I believe our wedding should be chosen to be shared on The Knot and WeddingChannel.com.

After graduating college, I moved to NM where my family had relocated and where I had found a job at local company. I didn’t know anyone other than my family but luckily there were a few girls who started training with me at the same time and with whom I became great friends. After about a month of training, one of the girls offered to set me up on a blind date with a guy she worked with previously. I was a little skeptical at first, because I had never been on a blind date before, but I didn’t know many people my age and thought it might be a good opportunity. Besides, she showed me a (very fuzzy) phone picture and he seemed kind if cute! She set up the date and time for us and it was on. The night of my blind date, I was running late and got lost. I also realized I didn’t know if I would recognize him because the picture I saw wasn’t that good. I had to call the friend who had set me up to get better directions and to get this guy’s number so I could figure out what he was wearing. I sent him a text explaining I would be a few minutes late and also asking how I would recognize him. He wrote me back and said “I’ll be the tall guy in the white shirt who looks like a lobster.” Not very promising. After arriving at the restaurant and meeting Brandon, I realized the lobster comment referred to the bad sunburn he had gotten while golfing earlier that day, lucky for me. He was very good looking and surprisingly, the conversation flowed very well. There were never any of those awkward silences I had expected and halfway through dinner he learned very and asked if he could kiss me, which I though was very sweet. And I said yes. After dinner we went to another place for dessert and then a different place for drinks. At one point, a waitress asked us how long we had been dating because we seemed so happy together. She was extremely surprised when we told her it was our first “blind” date! Finally, it was time to end the evening but it was one of the best experiences of my life and a little over a year later, Brandon asked if I would marry him. And I said yes.

Tyrone and Valerie...I vow to thee...

Although slightly older, this will be the first actual wedding ceremony for both of us.  I was laid-off one year ago (shortly after announcing our engagemen), so develping a budget was a challenge indeed.  No bride wants to skimp on elegance, I was certainly no different.  Here is our story...

Tyrone and I have known each other for a good while.  We were the very best of friends for six years or so, were distant for two years, but once the angels reunited our spirits, we chose never to let go.  We have been together for almost ten years now.  Wow, I can not believe so much time has gone by.

My son was already in the Military by the time we became a couple, but my daughter was in high school.  He immediately assumed responsibility for seeing to her safety, as she fluttered about her social responsibilities and needed a transport.  He has been very good to us both, and has been there for my son as well.  Tye's entire family is heaven sent.  Embracing me and my daughter as if we shared blood.  It was his father that requested that we try to do something so that all of his loved ones could share in the moment (the family is very close indeed).

So, when Tye insisted that we hold firm to exchanging our vows this year, I began to explore every venue out there, but even the most simple items were so very expensive.  All seemed rather hopeless, until his father's wife (a wonderfullly caring woman, who just happens to be a professional jazz singer) mentioned that weddings in Las Vegas could be rather cost effective.  It didn't hit me for a couple of days, but when it did, and I began researching options, I became very excited.  I showed him some ideas, and the costs, and he too became excited.  We both began to feel that we might just be able to pull this off.

I recently sent out the "save the date" notices.  I opted for email.  They turned out very nice.  I had joined weddingchannel.com some time ago, and created a lovely wedding website.  The rose theme aligned perfectly with my colors.  Naturally the link to the website was included.  Another family member suggested creating a honeymoon registry.  Again, after a little research, I was able to build a dream.

So, we are on our way.  I am looking for a garden chapel to impose "a new beginning" theme.  The candles will be lit down the isle, a white runner with rose petals extended, amidst a garden setting dipped in roses.  We will lite the unity candles, and recite the traditional christian vows.  I will wear champaigne, pearls, and have a half-mooned veil to one side of my face, but an extended train.  My ladies will sport a deep deep dark red, long, flowing, and off the shoulders.  My bouquet will be fallen, and consist of 20 dark red roses, pale white tulips, baby's breath, and a touch of grenery.  My ladies bouquets will be hand tied, and very similar.  The boutenniers will be roses, as will the flowers set aside for the mothers and distinguished guests.

Family members from various states have agreed join us in Las Vegas, and for the locals, it is only a 4 hour drive.  Everyone seems to be looking forward to the event.  My son will be flying in to give me away.  Both of Tye's mothers will be in attendance, as will mine.

My daughter (my maid of honor) is returning home from deployment, this weekend, as a matter of fact.   She had already found the absolute perfect gown, elegant and unique.  She even agreed to pay half for it.  My cousin (my matron of honor) is a professional hair stylist and make-up artist.  We ended up with five couples in the wedding party--his sisters and very very close friends of twenty years.  The ceremony package included a complimentary limosine, and we opted for the release of the doves as we exit the chapel, and finally, his last sister designes beautiful specialty cakes for any occasion.

I am still working on the traditional reception to show our gratitude, which will probably take place in our suite, I plan to reserve space at one of the nearby "hot spots" where we can dance until dawn....

I feel so incredibly blessed to be entering into such spirit-filled family and circle of friends.  It seems everything they do or touch, glimmers like gold, and there is always such a merriment, that even the most bitter of hearts softens...

Once again, Love prevails
.Smile

American girl falling for a Scottish beau---
The story of me & my fiancée started nearly three years ago, when I left the United States for a study abroad experience in Edinburgh, Scotland. On my first night out, at a welcome week event, I met this handsome scotsman, and well, I guess you can say I never stopped seeing him. During my experience in Scotland, we were inseparable, and even after leaving Scotland , we decided to do the long distance thing—stick it out and see how it goes. It’s been really hard, being in a long distance relationship with someone who lives a few hours away is hard, but being in a long distance relationship with a person who lives half way around the world, with a 5 hour time distance, now that’s hard! But we’ve make it work through visits, daily skype calls, e-mails, and care packages. Even though the distance is hard, we keep looking forward to July 16, 2011, when we’ll be getting married in Scotland, the place where we met and fell in love. Then, he’ll be moving to the United States to be with me permanently. Why we deserve to be featured online or in print through the WeddingChannel.com or The Knot, is because our wedding day will be our fairytale ending, showing not just to ourselves, but to others out there who are also in a long distance relationship, that if you truly care deeply about someone, love always prevails, no matter the circumstances or the distance, you can make it work, if you just believe. Our wedding can be that inspiration to others. They can see us on WeddingChannel.com or The Knot and say, “hey, if they made their long distance relationship work, well so could we!” Additionally, kilts always photograph well!
