Ok, gotta be honest...this is my second wedding..HOWEVER I did spend my first honeymoon in ANTIGUA and it is gorgeous! Too bad I was there with a loser! Anyway....my new Fiancee and I would like to stay in the states and somewhere thats not blazing hot....we want seclusion but options of things to do at the same time....any suggestions?? Wedding is in October.......

South beach Miami is really nice, and you could take a 2 day cruise to the bahamas or something from miami. Thay might work.

We are going to Vegas... I think!
I have never been on a plane and have a serious fear of heights! I have a year to go and I get sick just thinking of it!

Our second choice was Nagia Falls, it' not in the us, but close.

Is there a certain state that you'd really like to see? With the interent you don't need a travel agent. Just search on the interent and maybe you'll find something you really want to see.

You could do Martha's Vineyard or Nantucket. If you get married in October it'd still be really nice weahter, (not beach weather, but you could go for a walk on the beach and noone would be there!) and it wouldn't be too expensive since it would be the off season.

We got married in October in 2006 and rented a fabulous cabin in the Smoky Mountains.

During the evenings we enjoyed time together in seclusion, hot tubbing, watching tv, playing pool, having romantic dinners.

But we went out during the day to various places - Pigeon Forge, national park, Gatlinburg, caving etc. We even drove over to the Biltmore in North Carolina for the day, which was a treat.

It was heaven. Great weather. Great views.

The cabin place we used (did a family vacation with them again this year) was very professional. www.timberwinds.com.

For AMAZING Fall colors and a luxury cabin with it's own private heated pool.... weather still in the mid-high 70s in October - I would recommend the Ozark Mountains and staying in a super luxury cabin: http://www.anedodi.com - the prices look high but they are negotiable...

Being from West VA, you might not think this is a great idea, but it's my "happiest place on earth"... the Western NC mountains!! Smokies, Blue Ridge, Appalachian Mountains, Boone, Asheville, Sugar Mountain, Beech, Grandfather... ahhhh and in October!! Leaf season... (I live in FL now... our leaves just turn brown and fall off from exhaustion in late November)

Eastern TN, Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge area is also very nice.

FutureMrsTed, technicly Niagra Falls is half in the United States, my Mom grew up near there and said that there's a sign half way accross a bridge there that says "Welcome to Canada" or something like that.

And as far as planes go, I'm going to tell you something that I always told my passengers when I was flying, unless the Flight Attendants are not panicing, everying this is under control. Unless you plan to fly into Vegas in the middle of the summer when it's hot, it shouldn't be very bumpy (other than the bump when you touch down on the runway).

I'm also looking for great US honeymoon ideas. Neither of us have a passport yet, and most likely won't have them before the honeymoon!

I've been to Vegas twice. Love it there. Vegas in October is great! There are alot of thing to do there besides gamble. The shows are great, sight seeing- red rocks, hoover dam, shopping!

I'm leaning towards a Cali honeymoon. My BFF lives in the LA area, but I'd love to see San Fran... or do some wine country stuff too!

Of course, for the ultimate US honeymoon, i'd have to say Hawaii! It's going to be more $$ than other US destinations, but I'm sure it's worth it!

The Niagara Falls Canada idea is actually really nice. I live about 3 hours away, so I try to get there every year, but the fall is beautiful to visit Niagara on the Lake, a quaint historical town a short drive from the falls. Niagara on the Lake is of course in the heart of wine country, following the wine route, touring and tasting as you go is a idylic way to spend a day (or two!). There are beautiful B&B's, or ritz it up one of Niagara's Fallsview Hotels. The town itself is a little run down, but the further up the river you go the better it gets.
