Due to our schedules, we can't take our honeymoon for about six months after the wedding. I was thinking it would still be fun to do something the next day as a mini honeymoon.  Somthing along the lines of breakfast in bed, going out to dinner, etc. Playing some Hawaiin music, etc.  Anyone have any ideas?

Just off the top of my head:

-Shut off cell phones/ unplug house phone
-Have an all day movie marathon
-Do not go anywhere or even get out of bed
-No answering the door, unless it is food
-Cooking is off limits- order out!
-Stock up on "romantic" foods (chocolate covered strawberries, champagne, truffles, etc)
-Take a bubble bath complete with candles, rose petals in the water and soft music

Sounds like a great idea!  I may have to borrow some of these since we, too, will be unable to take an official honeymoon for awhile (I am in the middle of the school year and can only have so many personal days before they start subtracting pay).  Good luck!

We only have the day after the wedding off, so we were thinking of driving to the grand canyon for the day.  The romantic foods is a great idea. Kind of a spin off- Wine, fruit and cheese, then feed it to one another!!  I just may use a couple of these!!

One idea I've had in thinking about an at-home-honeymoon is spending the first day just at home, and depending on how much time you have off, going on out-of-town day trips.  For instance, we're within reasonable driving distance of some nice beaches, Washington D.C., Philadelphia, the mountains, some really awesome museums, and so on.  Take a look at what's in your area, so you can go where you want on a whim without pressure of a schedule.

We're doing the same thing; think of it as getting 2 honeymoons! Day after our wedding was spent at a 5-star hotel where we pampered ourselves. We then enjoyed the weekend at home, no phone calls, no working around the house, etc. You'll find that just having the opportunity to relax without any decision making & schedules is a gift in itself!

I am in agreement with you on these ideas. In my upcoming wedding, neither of us will really get the time off to go on a honeymoon for at least 6 months. I'm thinking of definitely taking your advice, as well, we can spend the day at a beach house, a resort, something simple and romantic!UndecidedLaughing
