Did you use a travel agent or just book your trip on your own? I don't know if it's worth using an agent, since it's such a special trip I think maybe the attention to detail that you get from a person would be worth it. What do you think?

I guess it depends on where you are going. If you were going to a certain "destination" resort honeymoon, or on a cruise... then a travel agent might be a good idea.

When I travel... I always book hotels/flights thru Hotwire.com or occasionally Priceline (if I can't find anything on Hotwire).

I'm sure when I get around to planning our honeymoon, I will probably just use Hotwire to book the hotel/flight since we are staying in the US.

It really depends on how comfortable you feel with booking travel and where you are going. If you aren't familiar with the destination a travel agent can help save you time by doing the research for you.  They might be able to save you money as well, but that highly depends.

Personally I was a travel agent for nearly 12 years, so most anything I do travel-wise, I book myself.

If you do book anything on your own, you should always cover your butt, by making sure you write down who you talk to and when, know the cancellation and change policies, know what you are getting, and if at all possible get something in writing from the hotel.

Hello, being a travel agent, I suggest using an agency.  We at Ship to Shore Travel do not charge anything for our services or expertise.  And we are there by your side every step of the way.  Booking online you are dealing with a website or an 800number.  They do not know who you are!  Ship to Shore Travel prides itself on customer service and is an excellent travel resource.

We would love to help you plan your dream honeymoon!  We also price match!  So if you see a great price on say expedia or hotels.com, we can beat their price!

Please visit our website at ww.shiptoshoretravel.com or give us a call 631-754-1802.

Thank You

There are a lot of great reasons to use an agent vs. booking online.
First, when you book with an agency like ours, we're able to offer you a "no walk" guarantee. You're probably read the horror stories from those who have booked online only to be bumped to another hotel. Do you really want to take that chance with your honeymoon?

Before you use an agent, ask them the following:
1. Have they recently been to the destination they are recommending?
2. Why do they feel this is the right destination for you?
3. How long have they been in business? Are they members of ASTA, the BBB, or other trade organizations?
4. Are honeymoons and destination wedding their only business, or just one of their many "specialties" they claim to have?

Your honeymoon is a once in a lifetime trip, and usually represents a significant financial investment. It's the one trip that you probably won't want to risk with an online site, or with someone who doesn't have firsthand knowledge of the destination.
Whatever you decide to do, have a great trip!
Creating significant trips for you and your significant other.
