My Fmil and Fsil were all urging me to do the toss, which I never particularly liked  when I was single.  This was at a Sunday dinner a month before the wedding.
When I pointed out that in our sixteen and up adult wedding there  were 6 single women (other than widows 50 plus).  Two were single still nursing mothers with SO and no intention of marrying, 1 was widowed months before, 1 was waiting for her divorce to become final, 2 were lesbians who had been waiting for Vermont to make it legal after  15 years together, and 1 was sixteen - silence.
So I said a young cousin had asked if I would have a girls crown of flowers or a bouquet at the day after family cook-out,  and everyone was happy.
It turned out  great.  The teen girls were excited to catch my bouquet or those of my MOH and  2 bridesmaids.

The friend who had helped raise flowering plants from bulbs for us for centerpieces had taken a box of cheap plastic headband tiaras and fastened flowers and pretty pearls and crystal beads to them,  misunderstanding "crown of flowers"  which on Mayday, and in many Scandinavian traditions like marriages, are a circle that rest on your hair.

More flowered tiaras than girls, and they were three sizes.  The girls loved them, and traded for ones that fit.
I was happy I skipped it at the wedding and took my 15 yr old cousin's suggestion.
Actually, the first single woman at my wedding to meet a man and marry was my mother's mother last summer, at 71.

Fat chance she would have jumped for a bouquet!

The garden/chapel site where I'm getting married provides silk/nosegay bouquets. I might be able to keep it forever?
Or do you think I should go with the traditional fresh flower bouquet designed by yours truly?

2nd, I'd love to toss my bouquet, but it's going to be an intimate wedding.

I think its all part of having fun at your wedding. Really, only a few people take it seriously. I don't have many single people at mine, its mostly our family since we don't have a whole hell of a lot of friends (and I like it that way). I don't care if there are little girls out there wanting to catch it, thats cute. I have always seen it as just harmless fun.

We decided to remove the bouquet and garter toss from the reception. Like many people who are getting married later in life, very few of our friends are single. Besides, it would intrude on dancing. In the time you took to do those things, you could finish a quadrille.

A wedding I was just at auctioned off the garter.  The last person to give $1 was the person who got the garter the couple ended up with about $200.  I think we will be doing this for our wedding but with a time limit, it was alot of fun and everyone was getting into it.

I think it would be so fun! I'm even using Beyonce's "all the single ladies" as the song for the throw! Our families are kind of wild and crazy and I can just imagine his 50 something single aunt trying to catch the bouquet!

I would love to keep my bouquet b/c it's so cool, the florist even asked if I wanted him to make another bouquet for me to throw but the truth is I'm not one to keep my flowers and dry them out so whoever catches it can keep it.

I'm not doing it because I don't believe there will be many single ladies there. Also because I'm carrying my mother's bride bible, wrapped in long-training white ribbons. Lol I might clock somebody!

I want to do the bouquet toss but I only know of a few single girls that will be attending the wedding so i'm not gonna be able to do it. :( Kinda sucks but oh well.

Since it was our second wedding we skipped the toss and the garter thing.
Wasnt fond of them the first time around.  I loved my flowers  and I kept them.
I guess if you have a lot of singles or kids maybe, but personally I think its
a silly "tradition".
If you like your flowers, have a smaller toss bouquet made.

No bouquet or garter for us. I might just toss my bouquet as we leave to everyone. I've had 2 really bad garter experiences so I was 100% anti-garter before I was even engaged.
