There is so much to do and plan that I think Im going nuts. My mother is not in the picture and I don't want to bug my fiances mother so Im basically planning the entire wedding myself. My fiance is always at work and when he is at home and I ask him something, he just says, "what ever you want sweetheart, it doesn't matter to me." But I could really use his input. Its up to me to call all the sites and try to find vendors, AND keep it low cost because he hasn't even sat down to help come up with a budget for me to work with. Our wedding is in less than a year and Im still looking at wedding and reception sites.

If you see someone without a smile, give them yours

If you haven't chosen a venue yet, you could always postpone & do it at your own pace.  I booked my ceremony site & reception site 14 months in advance & I had to change my date to accomodate both sites.  If you don't have your heart set on that date, keep it flexible.  I am 1 month away now & it's still stressful, but not nearly as overwhelming as it was when I first started planning.  The venues, photographer & DJ were the most stressful, after that it's just little details that just seem easier to tackle!  Good luck!

I feel you... I had to plan our wedding in less than 4 months. My mom is out of town so pretty mcuh i did everything on my own. SO beleive me, I know is stresfull, especially when we have fiances that don't give to much feedback about anyhting.
But with a year to plan I think you'll be ok. We end up choosing a hotel for our reception because the package was great, the take care of the catering, drinks, and cake, plus in the price our suite for the wedding nite is included, so that might be something to check out. Hope it helps Smile

Oh I can totally relate. Even though my mom is in the picture I still have done everything on my own and getting the same reaction from my fiance, "whatever makes you happy." Even though they are trying to be nice it is still so frustrating :O) Men HA  Just take a deep breath.  I found that having a folder and notebook helped a lot. Just to keep everything together.  And google has been my best friend.  Seriously google what your looking for and where and just start calling until you find what is best for you.  I have already exceeded our cell phone minutes because of this so make sure to keep a watchful eye.  And don't be afraid to ask your florist or caterer or even chapel/church for reception venues.  More often then not this is not their first wedding so they are knowledgable of options.  And don't be afraid to explain to your fiance that you do need help and give him a couple things to do research on.  Like for mine I made him pick out the cake flavor, definitely one less thing to figure out.  We aren't having a bridal party either but I have definitely have not been afraid to ask some close friends for ideas or little help here and there. Pretty much it comes down to not being afraid to ask.  And please please please do not be afraid to ask your fiance's mom for help.  Just talk to her about it see if she is interested. The worse she will say to you is no.  But, it's an important day to her too.  So if she hasn't offered help it's probably b/c she doesn't want to step on your toes.  Have fun! Trust me I'm 6 months away planning a destination wedding and it has been completely overwhelming. But in the end the most important part is that you are marrying the love of your life.  It doesn't matter about the food or who was there just that you made this commitment together to grow old together. Good luck and please don't hesitate to send me a message for ideas or help.  I usually have a little down time and don't mind googling :O)
